How can an AI automation company get recommended by ChatGPT? (Malaysia)

EasyFound · · 9 min read

TL;DR

For a Malaysian AI automation company, the way into ChatGPT's answers is one page per job it automates. Our Malaysian test found questions about one job, such as invoice entry or a WhatsApp bot, drew small local firms' own pages. The broad 'best AI consulting company' question went to a directory on ChatGPT and global consultancies on Gemini. Buyers were told to check data handling, human handover and registration.

To get recommended by ChatGPT in Malaysia, an AI automation company needs one plain page for each job it automates, because ChatGPT treats a job question very differently from a "best firm" question. Ask about invoice entry for a KL SME or a WhatsApp bot for a property agency, and in our test it drew small Malaysian firms' own pages. Ask for the "best AI consulting company in Malaysia", and ChatGPT mostly leaned on one international directory, while Gemini put global consultancies up front.

Below, one section per job buyers asked about, then the checks both AI tools told them to make.

How does ChatGPT pick an AI automation company in Malaysia for invoice data entry?

For invoice work, ChatGPT went straight to automation firms' own service pages, mostly titled for the job. Say a trading company owner in Klang, buried in supplier invoices, asks "any AI company in KL that can automate our invoice data entry?" Back came pages on invoice OCR or data entry, often with "Malaysia" in the title. Across the five job questions, 93 of ChatGPT's 103 links went to a business's own page (CSV).

Firm 01 in our CSV shows the mechanism. It came up in 16 of the 29 answers, on every question except the "best consulting company" one. In 15 of those 16, one of its own pages was a source, with different pages matched to different questions; invoice questions mostly got its automation page.

Everyone else came and went. The answers named 116 different businesses, about half of them only once, and no ChatGPT question had the same firm first in all three runs, as answers change between runs. For invoices and data entry in KL, only 3 of 23 firms were named by both tools. Gemini also offered ready-made software instead of a firm.

What gets an AI automation company in Malaysia named for a WhatsApp bot?

In our test, a page about WhatsApp: Firm 01's WhatsApp questions mostly drew its WhatsApp page, not the invoice one.

The WhatsApp question was also asked in Malay, and ChatGPT searched only in English for the Malay and Chinese questions. Gemini searched in Malay or Chinese in three of its four answers, as in our language test. That suggests the English job page matters even for BM-speaking buyers.

A WhatsApp page should also settle who owns the accounts, a point covered in the page order below.

How does ChatGPT judge AI automation companies in Malaysia for a website chatbot?

For a website chatbot, ChatGPT still drew on firms' own pages, but it also started vetting them. In its six answers to the website chatbot question and the Chinese "靠谱吗" (reliable?) question, it raised these checks:

  • Hand-over to a person: 5.
  • Where data is kept: 5.
  • SSM or registration: 3.

A check could turn into praise. ChatGPT said of one firm that its website "直接写了 SSM 注册号,算是比较加分" (states its SSM registration number, "which counts in its favour").

Why doesn't "best AI consulting company in Malaysia" surface local AI automation firms on ChatGPT?

Because ChatGPT built that list from a directory, not from firms' own pages. Two of its three answers each linked a single page, both from the same international business directory, and took their names from it. One answer said some of those firms suited a buyer "okay with a regional/remote team".

Gemini went further abroad, naming a global consulting group first every time, from "top AI consulting firms" lists published by other AI and IT firms. Only 4 of 31 firms were named by both tools here. The Chinese SME automation question was no better, at 4 of 25.

Bear in mind the setup: each tool ran through its own API with its own settings, and Gemini had no location setting. Its API returned "high demand" errors all day, so we compare only the three questions it answered three times. ChatGPT's sources are the links it showed; Gemini's are the pages it grounded on, not all shown to the reader.

Across those three questions, lists or directories were 3 of ChatGPT's 46 sources. For Gemini it was 21 of 77. On the same three questions, Gemini's median list ran to 10 businesses. ChatGPT's ran to 8.

Vendor-written "best" lists got through too: all five times ChatGPT linked one, it also named the vendor that wrote it, as our software company study also saw. Across all its answers in this test, ChatGPT named a median of eight firms, more than in our count across other trades, which drew on earlier tests and partly a different model.

What do ChatGPT and Gemini tell Malaysian SMEs to check before hiring an AI automation company?

Both told Malaysian SMEs to check how an AI automation company treats people and data, not just what it builds, either as advice or as a reason to pick one firm.

How often each AI tool raised a buyer check, same three questions, three runs each (EasyFound, 14 October 2026; CSV)
Check ChatGPT, 9 answers Gemini, 9 answers
Hand-over to a real person 2 5
Where customer data is kept, or who can use it 2 6
Start with a small pilot 2 4
SSM or company registration 2 0
Accounts in your own company's name 0 3, all in Chinese

ChatGPT raised these mostly on reliability questions, as in the chatbot section. On the same answers, Gemini named the PDPA in 6, and ChatGPT in none. Gemini mentioned MDEC, HRD Corp or a grant in 6, ChatGPT in none.

The data question has legal weight. The 2024 amendment added this to the Personal Data Protection Act: "Where the processing of personal data is carried out by a data processor on behalf of the data controller, the data processor shall comply with the Security Principle as specified in section 9" (Act A1727). Our reading: a firm running a chatbot on a client's customer data may be that processor. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which page should an AI automation company in Malaysia write first for ChatGPT?

Write the page for the job you're hired for most, after checking what ChatGPT says now; job questions were open to small Malaysian firms in our test.

  1. Look at today's answer first, with EasyFound's free check. It shows the answer an owner gets when asking something like "can any company in Penang set up a WhatsApp bot to answer our customers in BM and English?", and we walk through it with you on a free call.
  2. First page: the job you're hired for most. Title it with the job and "Malaysia", such as invoice data entry or WhatsApp customer service, then give every other job its own page.
  3. Next, the buyer's checks on each of those pages: your SSM number, where client data is stored, how a person takes over, and how a pilot works.
  4. Then account ownership. Say whose name the accounts are in, such as the client's WhatsApp Business account, a point ChatGPT also pressed in our WhatsApp chatbot builder test.
  5. Last, lists and profiles. If you publish a "best" list, say it's yours, and keep your directory profile's Malaysian address and services current.

EasyFound is an AI search visibility (GEO) tool built for Malaysian businesses. For an automation firm, it tracks whether AI engines name you for each job buyers ask about, from invoice entry to WhatsApp bots. Through our AI SEO service, our team can run those checks and rewrite the pages that let you down.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI visibility service for AI automation companies in Malaysia?

Nobody can honestly name a single best provider from a handful of test runs. EasyFound sells this kind of tracking to Malaysian businesses, and our team can run it for an automation firm, so we are not neutral. Judge any provider, us included, on what they actually test: which AI tools and which languages, whether you get to read the raw answers a buyer sees, how many times each question is repeated, and whether they ask job questions such as 'automate invoices for an SME in KL' rather than only 'best AI company'.

Why does ChatGPT recommend overseas firms when I ask for the best AI consulting company in Malaysia?

In EasyFound's test of 14 October 2026, two of ChatGPT's three answers to 'best AI consulting company in Malaysia' each linked a single page from the same international business directory and took their names from it. One said some of those firms suited buyers 'okay with a regional/remote team'. Questions about a specific job, such as automating invoices or WhatsApp replies, drew small Malaysian firms' own pages instead. This was ChatGPT through OpenAI's API, not the app.

Does Gemini recommend different AI automation companies from ChatGPT?

Mostly, yes, in EasyFound's Malaysian test. On the three questions both tools answered three times, only a handful of firms were named by both on each question. Gemini put a global consulting group first in all three of its 'best AI consulting company in Malaysia' answers and drew more on 'top AI companies' list articles. Across those three questions it also mentioned the PDPA and government grants far more often. Keep in mind that we asked each through its own API with its own settings, and that Gemini's API was overloaded that day, so it answered fewer questions.

Should my AI automation company put its SSM number and PDPA details on its website?

It's worth it, going by EasyFound's Malaysian test. ChatGPT twice pointed to one automation firm's website for listing its SSM registration details, and once called that a plus. Both ChatGPT and Gemini told buyers to ask where customer data is kept and how PDPA is handled. The 2024 amendment to the Personal Data Protection Act added that a data processor 'shall comply with the Security Principle'. This is general information, not legal advice.

Our data: We sell AI visibility work, so count this as a vendor's own measurement. EasyFound, ChatGPT and Gemini answers to Malaysian AI automation questions, 14 October 2026. We asked six buyer questions from EasyFound's standard question set for this trade, mostly short and keyword-like ("best AI consulting company in Malaysia"): four in English, one in Malay and one in Chinese; the full wording is in the CSV. No chat history; every answer searched the web. On ChatGPT (OpenAI Responses API, gpt-5.4-mini-2026-03-17, web search tool, approximate location Malaysia) we have 18 answers, each question three times. On Gemini (Gemini API, gemini-3.8-flash, Google Search grounding, no location setting) we have 11: three each for the "best AI consulting", invoices and Chinese questions, one each for the website chatbot and Malay WhatsApp questions, and none for the property agency WhatsApp question, because Gemini's API returned "503 high demand" errors all day. Gemini's single answers are examples, not rates. Every answer was read in full. Businesses named were hand-coded as companies a buyer could hire or buy from, in order; directories, regulators and tools mentioned only as technology were left out, and spelling variants of one firm merged. In its three invoice answers, Gemini offered ready-made software as an alternative to hiring a firm; we counted that separately. Advice was coded by reading each answer, with keyword search only to find candidates. On cited pages, each URL counts once per answer: ChatGPT's are links in its answer, while Gemini's are its grounding sources, which are not always shown as links, so the two are different measures and we compare only the kinds of page each drew on. "Lists" are "best" or "top" articles written by a vendor, and "directories" are business listing sites. Across all 18 answers ChatGPT named a median of eight businesses; Gemini also had a median of eight across its 11. The cross-trade median of four comes from a different set of ChatGPT answers (earlier EasyFound tests, 24 September to 8 October 2026, partly on chat-latest). The checks ChatGPT raised on reliability questions come from its six answers to the website chatbot and Chinese questions. Title check: this article's title, asked twice on 14 October 2026, searched and cited only OpenAI's own pages both times. Per-answer data (CSV). We don't name AI automation firms, because one day's answers are not a ranking.

Limits of this test:

  • The app. We used the APIs; the apps, with chat history, can differ.
  • Gemini's full picture. Gemini gave fewer answers than ChatGPT because its API was overloaded that day, so its single answers are examples only.
  • Cause. We saw what was named and cited, not why, on one day.
