What makes AI recommend a skin clinic in Klang for acne, eczema or pigmentation?
EasyFound · · 7 min read
It starts with how the patient asks. In our ChatGPT test, questions asking for a skin specialist or dermatologist, or about eczema or rosacea, named mostly hospitals. Questions asking for the "best clinic" for acne scars or pigmentation named mostly clinics. Either way, the providers it named usually had their own website in ChatGPT's search results.
What makes AI recommend a skin clinic in Klang starts with how the patient asks. "Best clinic" questions about acne scars and pigmentation got mostly clinics. Either way, the providers it named usually had their own website in ChatGPT's search results.
Picture a mother at your counter. She asked ChatGPT where to take her son for acne, and it pointed her to hospital dermatologists. In Klang, about a third of the providers ChatGPT named were hospitals, while our KL and JB aesthetic clinic tests had almost none.
Which skin questions make AI recommend a hospital instead of a skin clinic in Klang?
AI recommended hospitals in Klang mostly when the patient asked for a specialist or about a medical skin condition. We put 10 Klang Valley skin questions to ChatGPT, twice each, and sorted every provider it named by the words in its name (CSV).
| What the patient asked for | Hospitals or medical centres | Clinics |
|---|---|---|
| A skin specialist or dermatologist, including for acne or eczema | 18 | 5 |
| The "best clinic" for rosacea | 6 | 2 |
| The "best clinic" for acne scars or pigmentation | 2 | 29 |
Two questions sit outside the table. One asked for the largest skin specialist chain, and the other is the dermatologist-or-aesthetic-clinic question below.
So a parent typing "Can you recommend a dermatologist in Klang? My son's acne is getting worse" is likely to be sent to a hospital. Someone typing "Where's a good place in Klang to fix my acne scars?" is likely to see clinic names.
The wording and the condition changed together, so we can't say which one did it. Rosacea is the hint that the condition matters too: even a "best clinic" question got mostly hospitals.
Does AI recommend a skin clinic in Klang when a patient isn't sure whether to see a dermatologist?
AI recommended no skin clinic at all in our test when the patient wasn't sure who to see. Asked "Dermatologist vs aesthetic clinic for acne in Malaysia, where should I go" twice, ChatGPT named nobody. Both answers explained when a dermatologist is the better first stop.
Instead of clinics, both answers linked official doctor registers:
- the Malaysian Medical Council's specialist register, in one;
- the National Specialist Register, in the other;
- the Ministry of Health's aesthetic-practice pages, in both.
Our reading: for an unsure patient, the registers are the shortlist. A clinic whose doctors are listed there, under the same names and specialties as on its own website, is easier for AI to match up.
What do the skin clinics and hospitals AI recommends in Klang have in common?
The skin clinics and hospitals AI recommended in Klang almost always had their own website in ChatGPT's search results. Every provider named in three or more answers had it there each time, with one exception: the most-named provider. That matches the pattern across all three areas in our guide for aesthetic and skin clinics.
What sets Klang apart is how medical ChatGPT's sources were:
- Ministry of Health pages were in the search results for 16 of 20 answers.
- The Dermatological Society of Malaysia's site appeared in 11, though it was never linked.
The recommendations were also the most scattered of our three areas. ChatGPT named 35 different providers. Most of them came up only once. Asking the same question twice rarely gave the same list, which is normal for ChatGPT.
What can't our ChatGPT test tell a skin clinic in Klang?
- Why it chose. We saw what ChatGPT named and what its searches returned on one morning, with web search required. Unforced, it sometimes answers from memory.
- Doctors' real specialties. We sorted providers by their names, so a dermatologist in a clinic without "skin" in its name counts as a clinic.
- Medical advice. This is about which providers AI names, not where a patient should be treated.
How can my skin clinic in Klang get recommended by AI for acne, eczema or pigmentation?
The opening for clinics is in the acne scar and pigmentation questions, where clinics took most of the names, and in the registers ChatGPT linked when a patient was unsure. The rules on what a clinic may publish are set out in our guide for aesthetic and skin clinics. Treat this as general information rather than legal advice, and check your own case with the MAB.
- See what ChatGPT says about your clinic. Request EasyFound's free check for questions like "My melasma keeps coming back. Which clinic in Klang Valley should I go to?", then go through it with us on a free call.
- List each doctor's name, qualifications and registered specialty exactly as the Malaysian Medical Council register and, for aesthetic work, the Ministry of Health's aesthetic-practice register show them. The Medicine Advertisements Board allows these to be "listed for information purposes", but not promotion of "any individual practitioner's skills, knowledge and experience" (MAB guidelines, §4.2).
- Give each condition you treat its own plain, factual page, such as acne scars, pigmentation and eczema. Ask the MAB first whether the page needs its approval.
- Leave out treatment testimonials and before-and-after pictures, which the MAB doesn't allow (details in the guide above).

Frequently asked questions
Does ChatGPT send patients to a hospital instead of a skin clinic in Klang?
For some questions, in EasyFound's test. On 29 September 2026 we asked ChatGPT 10 Klang Valley skin questions, twice each, with web search required. When the question asked for a skin specialist or dermatologist, including for acne or eczema, 18 of the 23 provider mentions were hospitals or medical centres. When it asked for the "best clinic" for acne scars or pigmentation, 29 of 31 were clinics. Provider type is EasyFound's reading of each provider's name.
If a patient asks ChatGPT whether to see a dermatologist or an aesthetic clinic for acne, will it name my clinic?
It named no clinic at all in EasyFound's test. Asked 'Dermatologist vs aesthetic clinic for acne in Malaysia, where should I go' twice on 29 September 2026, ChatGPT explained when a dermatologist is the better first stop and linked doctor registers instead: the Malaysian Medical Council's specialist register in one answer, the National Specialist Register in the other, and the Ministry of Health's aesthetic-practice pages in both.
Does ChatGPT check a Klang dermatologist's credentials?
EasyFound's test can't show whether it checks. What it does show is what ChatGPT linked when a patient was unsure who to see: the Malaysian Medical Council's specialist register, the National Specialist Register and the Ministry of Health's aesthetic-practice pages. Our reading: a clinic that lists each doctor's name, qualifications and registered specialty the same way those registers do is easier for AI to match up.
Can a skin clinic in Klang without a dermatologist get recommended by ChatGPT for acne scars?
In EasyFound's test, yes for some questions. When patients asked ChatGPT for the 'best clinic' for acne scars or pigmentation in Klang or the Klang Valley (29 September 2026, web search required), clinics whose names don't mention skin or dermatology made up 19 of the 31 provider mentions. Questions asking for a skin specialist or dermatologist went mostly to hospitals instead. Provider type is EasyFound's reading of each name, not a check of each doctor's specialty.

Our data: EasyFound, ChatGPT answers about acne and skin clinics in the Klang Valley, part of our 29 September 2026 clinic test. 20 answers to 10 patient questions (eight about Klang or the Klang Valley, two Malaysia-wide), each asked twice through OpenAI's Responses API, model chat-latest, not the ChatGPT app. Web search was required on every call, no location was set, there was no chat history, and the system prompt asked ChatGPT to answer "the way ChatGPT would answer a consumer in Malaysia" and to return the named providers as a separate list. We merged branches, spelling variants and duplicate hospital names, and didn't count general references to government health clinics. Provider type comes from words in each name: hospital or medical centre; skin specialist, dermatology or kulit; otherwise aesthetic or general clinic. In the table, "clinics" combines the last two. The per-answer CSV gives each answer's count by type in the columns named_hospital, named_skin_specialist and named_aesthetic_or_general. "In the search results" means pages ChatGPT's web search returned to it; "linked" means a link a reader sees in the answer; a site counts once per answer. Ministry of Health means any moh.gov.my site except public-hospital pages, which count as that hospital's own site. The test questions were short keyword phrases; the example questions in this article are worded the way patients type. In the KL and JB tests run the same morning, 1 of 28 and 0 of 22 named providers were hospitals. Counts of distinct providers by type, for all three areas, are in the providers CSV (labels only). Unforced, asked this series' four headline questions three times each (questions about AI, location set to Malaysia, no system prompt), ChatGPT skipped search in 5 of 12 runs. Per-answer data (CSV) and sources (CSV). We don't name clinics, hospitals or doctors, because one morning's answers are not a league table.
